All the work we are doing at the Wild Circle is about change and regeneration. Wherever you look systems and ecologies are wilting and creaking under the pressure to make more, build more, have more. It is not working. Change seems necessary and natural. But it is a gradual process. It takes some practice to listen and feel again, to properly wake up to what is around us.

The Turn off the Lights Retreat is a chance to practice some of the gentle shifts that help dismantle the barricades. Re- wilding is not about becoming feral, it is about growing and tending that part of us that feels at home around a campfire, and swimming in rivers. Re-wilding is about letting more of that vital energy in, so that we change at a profound and transformative level.

It takes time. The retreats are a way to start the process. We spend two days slowing down, adjusting to natural rhythms and the outdoors. There will be meditation, qigong, awareness practices, wolf loping, storytelling and Circle talk around the fire. The dawn to dusk solo will be on the Saturday allowing time for stories to be told and preparation for the return to be made.

All the activities are optional and although most of the time will be spent outdoors there is a yurt in the woods to use as a field kitchen and indoor space. The two facilitators are Tim Hutton and Ilma Stankeviciute supported by two volunteers and the group size is limited to ten participants. See our Kit List page for what to bring.
